About the Podcast

The word career comes from the Latin carrus, meaning “chariot” or “cart.” In many ways, our careers are the vehicles that carry us through life, shaped by the choices we make. With over 8 billion people on the planet, one thing we all have in common is work—everyone is on their own chariot, navigating their unique path.

There are over 2,000 different degrees offered in the U.S., yet the number one question graduates hear is: “What are you doing after school?” With more than 150 million types of jobs available, how is anyone supposed to know?

I originally started this podcast to help career centers at universities and colleges worldwide provide better advice to students exploring their first career options. But as I built 8 Billion Jobs, I realized that this insight isn’t just for graduates—it’s for anyone looking to land a new job, explore a different industry, or advance their career.

Over my career, I’ve spoken with more than 6,000 professionals—C-level executives, VPs, Directors, Individual Contributors, and Entrepreneurs—across industries like tech, media, government, healthcare, finance, construction, and more. These guests, or charioteers, will share their real experiences—their advice, failures, accomplishments, day-to-day responsibilities, compensation, and career journeys.
