About the Podcast

The word career comes from the Latin word carrus, which means "chariot" or "cart". The word career can be considered a vehicle that carries us through life, and our decisions shape us in many ways. There are over 8 billion people on the planet, and the one thing we all have in common is work. Everyone is on their own chariot in life.

Welcome to the 8illion Jobs Podcast! There are over 2,000 different degrees offered in the US from colleges and Universities. The number one question that upcoming graduates are asked is: “What are you doing after school?” With over 150M different types of jobs available, how is anyone really supposed to know? I originally started this podcast to help Career Centers at Universities and Colleges worldwide give better advice to upcoming graduates when exploring their first career options.

While building this podcast, I realized that this information would be helpful for graduates and, additionally, everyone looking to land a new job, explore a different industry, or achieve a promotion. I have chatted with over 6,000 people in my career and learned from them in so many different ways. These people vary from C-level execs, Vice Presidents, Directors, Individual Contributors, and Entrepreneurs. We will cover people who have held jobs in all types of industries, from tech, entertainment/ media, government, consumer, healthcare, construction, finance, etc., and the list goes on. These charioteers want to share their advice, failures, accomplishments, what their D2D really is, their compensation, and early beginnings.​

I welcome you to get smart and expand your knowledge of what a “job title” means. The interviewees for this podcast will be people you have never heard of before, but they will work for companies you have either heard of or would most likely want to work for. This is intentional. I want my guests to be people you can actually relate to. It's fun to listen to interviews with billionaires, celebrities, and Forbes's top lists, but it’s hard for us to relate to someone at that scale truly.
